What it is

The Hollywood Peel gets its name from being the "look good today" treatment: a thin layer of activated charcoal is applied to the skin, it works its way into the pore, and then the Nd:YAG laser is passed over. The light targets the charcoal particles, which absorb the energy and vaporise, taking the dirt and dead cells in the pore with them.

Beyond that cleansing, the laser pass gives the skin a gentle stimulus and an immediate luminosity. It is a comfortable, quick treatment with no recovery: you leave with refined, glowing skin the same day.

It is the perfect complement before an event and fits very well into a routine, alternated with the deep cleansing facial.

Who it is for

  • Enlarged, visible pores
  • Dull skin with no light
  • Uneven texture
  • Oily, congested skin
  • Before an event, when you want an immediate effect and zero recovery

Better to wait, or to check first, if…

  • Tanned or sunburnt skin
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Severe inflammatory acne in a flare: a dermatologist assesses that first
  • Active herpes, wounds or infection in the area
  • Photosensitising medication, and current or recent isotretinoin
  • Lupus or other autoimmune diseases with photosensitivity, and ongoing cancer treatment
  • Uncontrolled epilepsy
  • Melasma without a specific assessment, and a marked tendency to hyperpigment
  • Moles and pigmented lesions in the area: they are covered and not passed over; if any has changed, the dermatologist first
  • Uncontrolled diabetes and a tendency to keloids
  • Recent peel, laser or facial surgery without discharge
  • Known allergy to activated charcoal or to any of the products used in the session
  • Tattoos or permanent makeup in the area to be treated: the laser affects the pigment

If you have permanent makeup on your brows, eyes or lips, tell us: those areas have to be respected.

The session, step by step

  1. 01

    Assessment

We look at your skin, your phototype and your medication.

  2. 02

    Cleansing first

Makeup is removed and the skin cleaned thoroughly.

  3. 03

    Applying the charcoal

A thin layer of activated charcoal is spread and left to settle into the pore.

  4. 04

    Laser passes

With protective goggles on, the face is covered zone by zone.

  5. 05

    Finish

The remaining charcoal is removed, the skin hydrated and sun protection applied.

What it feels like

Quick sparks of heat and a dry sound with each pass. It is more dramatic than uncomfortable. Afterwards the skin is warm and a little red for a while.

Before and after

Before you come

  • No sun, beach or sunbeds before the session
  • Stop retinol and acids in the days before
  • Come without makeup if you can
  • Tell us if you have permanent makeup or tattoos in the area

After the session

  • Redness and heat for a while: they drop quickly
  • High sun protection and no direct sun that day
  • Avoid the sauna, the pool and intense exercise the same day
  • Do not introduce new actives or exfoliants in the following days

When you see it

You see it the same day: cleaner skin, less visible pores and immediate luminosity. It is an effect on appearance, and it holds better as part of a routine than as a one-off.

What it does not do

  • It does not close pores permanently: it leaves them clean and less visible
  • It does not cure acne
  • It does not remove pigmentation or scars
  • It does not tighten the skin and does not replace a firming treatment
  • It is not a medical peel, despite the name
